WORK SAMPLES
Autism Demystification VR Experience
Worked with the Centre for Digital Media (CDM) and Archiact to design and develop a working prototype for a gamified Autism Demystification Virtual Reality application. The experience places you on the shoes of a child with Autism and is based on the program designed and offered by Friend to Friend Social Learning Society (F2F).
My role in the team was as UX/Game Designer and I contributed to the project by producing and reviewing design and ux materials such as storyboards, wireframes, user personas, application feature lists, and user test instruments.
CPR Training Virtual Reality Simulation
Worked with the Centre for Digital Media (CDM) and the Vancouver General Hospital's Centre for Excellence in Simulation Education and Innovation (CESEI) to design and develop a working prototype for a CPR Training Virtual Reality simulation.
My role in the team was as UX Researcher and I contributed to the project by producing a detailed Project Feasibility Report. The report includes an analysis of the technical, market, and economic feasibility of utilizing VR technology for CPR training.
Gaming Rewards Mobile App
Worked with Praeter Labs startup company to design a prototype for a mobile application. The application links games and app developers with brands to allow users to gain rewards for playing games and using apps, increasing the user retention and monetization of the participating games and apps.
My role in the team was as Lead UX/Game Designer and I contributed to the project by producing and reviewing design and ux materials such as storyboards, wireframes, user personas, application feature lists, and a business plan.
Lamar University's Game Dev Program
I received a research grant from Lamar University to carry out market research to assist in determining the feasibility of a Game Development concentration or program. With the grant, I surveyed 1,600 secondary school students, 300 college students, and 100 university faculty about their attitudes, interests, and opinions toward the video game industry.
My role in this project was as the Primary Researcher and as such I was responsible for designing the surveying instruments, collecting the data, and presenting the findings. The findings of our research were instrumental in convincing the university administration of incorporating a game development program.
American Institute of Monterrey, APS
Worked with the American Institute of Monterrey (AIM) to design and develop a brand new high school campus. AIM is the first and only E-12 school in Mexico accredited by both the NEASC in the U.S.A. and the CIS in Europe. The school has approximately 1,500 students representing 30+ nationalities, is a UNESCO associate school, and has recognition as a showcase school by Microsoft, as well as an Apple Distinguished School.
My role in the team was as Special Projects Consultant and I was responsible for designing and pitching the master plan for a brand new school campus, complete with a brand new educational model that promotes hands-on learning by allowing students to work on real-life projects with industry experts.
PROCESS
UX
Half of the work I do is in understanding who the target users are, what their needs are, why they have those needs, and how to meet their needs.
The other half of my work consists in helping my team and/or clients understand what the needs of the users are and how to meet them.

Community Development
I believe that user-centered, research-informed, and data-based design decisions can make all the difference in the success of a product or service.
Who are the users?
What are their needs?
What do the users want?
How can their needs be met?
